Microphone smarts help Councils communicate*

In March 2002, Prime Minister, John Howard, at the end of his chairing the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting at Coolum, where BRAHLER® ICS DIGIMIC® microphones with PC control were used by the Australian Government, walked to the BRAMSHAW® control desk and said that it was wonderful to be able to clearly hear all that was said in a conference, as well as easily explaining to the other Heads of State how the system worked.

DIGIMIC enabled Heads of State who wished to speak to simply press their microphone queuing button for their full name and title to appear in order on the Chair’s monitor screen. Bramshaw TourGuide™ for sound reinforcement (hard to detect receivers and ear phones) for the hard of hearing were also used.

Whether it is the public or private sector, and no matter how simple or complex the meeting, Bramshaw has a Brahler system for microphones, digital and analogue, automatic DIGIVOTE® voting systems, hard disc recording and with fibre optic or Category 5 communications. These systems are used in various parliaments, the United Nations in New York and Local Government chambers around the world.

As part of its recent refurbishment of Council Chambers, Dubbo City Council installed a Bramshaw DIGIMIC system last February.

“As well as much improved acoustics, the system has the added advantage of recording meetings,” said Michael Ferguson, Council’s Administration Services Supervisor. “It is very flexible, enabling us to easily configure the system depending on the type of meeting we are running. The red light buttons enable everyone in the chamber to see who is speaking and community members have found the system extremely useful during public forums.”

He said the control desk enables microphones to be turned on and off as required. Other facilities include an override button, if required, and lapel and handheld microphones.
