LG Pro awards

As an acknowledgement of the outstanding contribution made by the professionals working in Local Government in Victoria, LGPro announced the winners of its awards for excellence at its annual conference dinner. Divided into seven categories, the awards demonstrate the creative approaches Council staff are developing to meet the ever changing challenges they are presented with in meeting their community’s needs.

This year, the Innovative Management Initiative was won by the Darebin International Sports Centre team at Darebin City Council for its planning and management model for the International Sports Centre.

The Service Delivery Initiative was won by Jamey Mullen and the Local Laws Team at Latrobe City Council for their service delivery improvements.

The Design and Culture Division of Melbourne City Council won the Special Projects Initiative with its Places for People 2004.

Whitehorse City Council’s Tony Johnson, Noelene Duff, Terry Wilkinson and Jo Mulcahy took out the Community Partnership Initiative with their ‘Don’t Forget about Us’ kindergarten infrastructure campaign.

Latrobe City Council’s assessment of road signs for retroreflectivity undertaken by Stephen Howe and the Infrastructure Operations Department won the Community Assets and Infrastructure $250K and under category.

The Community Assets and Infrastructure over $250K was won by Cardinia Shire’s Michael Ellis, Gary McQuillan, Councillor Doug Hamilton, Don Walsh and Peter McLean for their connecting Cardinia project.

The Environment Sustainability Team at Stonnington City was the winner of the Sustainability Initiative with its sustainable water management strategy.

Rachael Dacy, Program Manager of the Commonwealth Games Unit at Melbourne City Council was this year’s winner of the Young Achiever Award.

  • Sabrina Duchenne – City of Greater Dandenong
  • Matter Macher – City of Greater Dandenong
  • Simon McCuskey – Maribyrnong City Council
  • Kellie Gavan – Latrobe City Council
  • Michael Smith – City of Port Phillip.
