Darwin and Kalymnos mark their silver anniversary

Darwin and Kalymnos in Greece have been Sister Cities for 25 years. To celebrate this, Acting Lord Mayor Dorothy Fox welcomed the Lord Mayor of Kalymnos, Georgios Roussos, and his delegation to Darwin in June.

Lord Mayor Georgios Roussos addressed a meeting of Council about Sister City activities between the two cities and enjoyed a special sunset reception at the famous Mindil Beach Markets.

The Sister Cities agreement between Darwin and Kalymnos was signed in April 1982, and with many Kalymnians living in Darwin a close friendship has developed between the two cities over the years.

While the delegation was in Darwin they also met with the Kalymnian Brotherhood and the Greek Orthodox Community, visited Charles Darwin University and were guests of honour at the Greek Glenti Festival.
