Monash offers professional development options for Local Government Councillors and staff*

In a political environment it is vital that Councillors and staff understand the political and practical imperatives of the three tiers of the government decision making processes.

The Master of Public Policy and Management program is challenging because of the depth and the rigour with which units in the program explore contemporary issues in public policy and management, and encourage disciplined thinking about public policy development and implementation related directly to your work.

The Director of Corporate Planning and Finance at Monash City Council, Marilyn Kearney, is a graduate of this program.

“The Public Policy and Management course set me up to work at a senior level,” Marilyn Kennedy said. “I am now a better manager and have strengthened my career outcomes.

“I understand the political environment within which I am working and have adopted strategies to improve my management philosophy. I wanted to improve my career prospects and contribute to the greater efficiency and cost effectiveness of Council’s business operations.”

The program, one of many within Monash’s Graduate School of Business, offers a focused education with the option of exploring through electives a wide range of specialist units.

The Monash Graduate School of Business offers an unparalleled range of world class study choices including the MBA, and Masters in the disciplines of Management, Marketing and Accounting Banking and Finance. The Monash Graduate School of Business can help you confidently move to the next level of your career.
