During 2006/07 Moonee Valley’s focus has been on creating a healthy city – delivering and facilitating a healthy economy, healthy environment and a healthy community, supported by a healthy organisation. Underpinning this focus is Council’s five key strategic objectives:
- integrating transport and maintaining infrastructure
- renewing recreation and leisure
- ensuring sustainability
- strengthening and engaging our community
- doing business better.
These strategic objectives are supported by Council’s policy and planning framework, which guides sustainability, community wellbeing, strategic planning and economic development.
Council’s Community Plan ‘Moonee Valley 2020’ was launched in February 2006, following an extensive community engagement process. Moonee Valley 2020 outlines the community’s aims and vision for the future.
“In 2020 Moonee Valley will be a diverse and safe community, which has ready access to services and facilities required for wellbeing, embraces its local heritage and cares for the environment, supporting individuals and groups to be involved in their community Council’s Vision for the future is encapsulated in its five strategic objectives.”
