Record crowds expected for environmental gathering

Australia’s leading environment and sustainability conference, Enviro 08, is expecting record crowds this year. To take place in Melbourne from 5 to 7 May, the conference theme is ‘Facing the Challenge’.

Over 6,000 delegates and visitors are expected to attend the conference and exhibition.

“We see Enviro as the most important symposium to be held in Australia for leaders and practitioners working in manufacturing, government, service industries and planning,” said Conference Chair, Max Spedding. “These are the people at the front line of a universal challenge, and many are desperately seeking innovative and sustainable responses to climate change.

“With greater political consciousness, international dialogue and media attention on the dilemma of global warming, this year’s theme recognises the huge shift in public interest in regards to climate change since the last Enviro conference two years ago.”

Enviro 08 will be a platform for promoting change through ideas, the sharing of knowledge, information and practical resources to better equip those facing the challenges of climate change.

It has been convened five times over ten years and is expected to attract delegates and visitors from across Australasia and the Pacific.

“Enviro 08 is not only a conference and exhibition but a must for those in the serious business of delivering sustainable, best practice environmental management in this part of the world,” Max Spedding said.

The high calibre three day program has been structured to offer leaders and executives an insight into global warming issues.

The exhibition will have an emphasis on business to business transactions and will showcase new innovative technologies, products and services.

Enviro 08 will be staged by the Australian Water Association and the Waste Management Association of Australia.
