Neumann helping Gold Coast go green*

Neumann Petroleum is helping the Gold Coast become cleaner and greener through a trial of biodiesel with Gold Coast City Council. Since April this year, Neumann Petroleum has been supplying its 20 per cent biodiesel blend, called E-Gen Diesel, to fuel two of GCCC’s trucks.

The trial, which follows similar trials by Logan City Council and Brisbane City Council, has proven a success to date with the trucks maintaining the same level of performance achieved with traditional petroleum diesel.

E-Gen Diesel is an organic fuel made from tallow and domestically grown oilseed products such as linseed, canola and cotton mixed with alcohol. It can be used in any existing diesel engine with little or no modification.

Neumann Petroleum Executive General Manager, Charles Wright, said E-Gen was a much cleaner fuel than traditional diesel.

“Biodiesel is a safe, clean burning fuel that reduces carbon monoxide emissions by up to 25 per cent and breaks down four times faster than traditional diesel,” he said. “It also eliminates the black cloud associated with diesel engines.”

In addition to its success with local authorities, the fuel has proven popular with commercial and private motorists.

Sales of the product through Neumann’s Eight Mile Plains service station on Brisbane’s southside are now outstripping sales of petroleum diesel.

“What these sales results demonstrate is the engine performance of the fuel,” Charles Wright said. “Motorists would not have been so accepting of biodiesel if it wasn’t delivering real results for their vehicles.”

Neumann Petroleum, Australia’s largest independent fuel company, is leading the development of renewable fuels locally and nationally.

“As an Australian owned and operated company, Neumann Petroleum is proud to be supplying locally produced E-Gen biodiesel to Australian motorists and authorities,” he said.
