Saving a Sunburnt Country – a climate change conference

Saving a Sunburnt Country is a timely event about the effect of climate change on Australia’s biodiversity and ecosystems. Hosted by the Nature Conservation Council of New South Wales, it will be staged on 12 and 13 November at the NSW Teachers Federation Conference Centre in Sydney.

This conference will provide:

  • access to the latest research on the challenges
of assisting mitigation and adaptation for biodiversity and ecosystems under climate
    change
  • an overview of current policy and
    planning
  • examples of innovation from government,
    academics and the community.

Local Government is moving beyond addressing the impact of climate change on infrastructure and the challenges of rising sea levels to consider what global warming will mean for ecosystem management and species conservation.

The conference will include dedicated Local Government and catchment management authority sessions, offering quality information and case studies to help councils carry out their important biodiversity work.

The conference is supported by the New South Wales Department of Environment and Climate Change and the Sydney Metro Catchment Management Authority.

Visit the conference website at www.nccnsw.org.au/sunburntcountry before 26 September 2008 to take advantage of the early bird offer.

For further information contact Biodiversity Project Officer, Phoebe Ashton telephone
