New IPWEA Fleet Management Certificate now available

The Institute of Public Works Engineering Australia (IPWEA) recently launched its new Fleet Management Certificate. The certificate is based on the Institute’s Plant and Vehicle Management Manual and its purpose is to:

  • enhance the plant and vehicle
    management skills of people working
    in the management, procurement,
    maintenance and use of plant,
    vehicles and equipment
  • provide recognition of the skill level
    attained
  • meet an industry need for some form
    of accreditation/certification
  • provide the opportunity for continuing
    professional development.

The course is suitable for people involved in the management, maintenance, procurement and end use of plant, equipment and fleet vehicles.

It comprises five units representing the key steps involved in procuring and managing an item of plant/vehicle/equipment, including utilisation, whole of life costs, tendering, maintenance and regulatory requirements.

The course is delivered by distance learning and there are no classes to attend. However, IPWEA will provide optional one day training workshops in February and March 2009 and subject to demand thereafter.

For further information about the Certificate please visit the IPWEA website at www.ipwea.org.au/fleet or contact Ross Moody on 0417 955 394
