The waste management challenge*

In a rapidly changing landscape, Local Government faces many challenges surrounding recycling and waste management. The Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme, landfill levies, the National Greenhouse Energy and Reporting System, and carbon offsetting, together with growing community expectations about environmental responsibility, are placing increasing pressure on everyone from councils to the private sector.

A central element to councils’ ability to manage and improve waste management is the capture and reporting of waste data. The quality of both the capture and reporting of this data are critical for effective waste management and compliance with legislative and government requirements.

Mandalay Technologies works closely with clients from local and regional councils throughout Australia to ensure they completely understand their data capture requirements in a changing industry. Mandalay combines its technical capabilities with a commitment to communication and ongoing support, and recognises the value of working with clients to provide them with a customised solution.

Mandalay combines its involvement with government and industry bodies with regular client focus groups to ensure that it develops its software to meet the specific demands of the industry.

“Mandalay’s software gives me the ability to run reports on data for all our sites from my office, allowing me to maximise my data knowledge and ensure that I have all the information I need to comply with government and legislative requirements,” said Jason, a Local Government Waste Services Coordinator.
