A team of young emerging leaders from Mid Western Regional Council in New South Wales has taken out the prestigious Local Government Managers Australia (LGMA) Australasian Management Challenge, held in Melbourne in June.
Winning teams from each State, together with a team from New Zealand, competed to demonstrate their skills in team dynamics, negotiation, communication and leadership.
LGMA National President, Neil Hartley, congratulated all teams competing in the challenge, which is now in its 17th year.
“The teams demonstrated a very high level of skill and a fabulous capacity to work together to meet the tasks assigned to them,” Neil Hartley said. “All seven teams are winners of their respective State and the New Zealand regional challenges. It is great to see them all do so well at the Australasian Challenge.
“While the Australasian final was very highly contested, with very few points differentiating the teams, the Mid Western Regional Council team really did themselves proud with a near perfect score.”
Mid Western Regional Council was followed closely by Western Australia’s Town of Kwinana taking out second place, and Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula Shire, who claimed third place.
Other teams competing in the Australasian final were Auckland City Council (NZ), Devonport City Council (Tas), the City of Playford (SA), and Townsville City Council (Qld). For further information visit www.lgma.org.au
