Australian Made FIFA recommended soccer field*

Located 25 kilometres west of Melbourne, CRC Caroline Springs recognised that sport plays a big part within their local community and recently decided to invest capital into a synthetic soccer field.

After an in depth search for a suitable contractor to fulfil the schools strict criteria, the project was developed by Australian company SmartGrass – promising to deliver a field under the TEAM Sports FIFA Recommended License ~ Elite 55. This product is registered under the Australian Made Campaign, combining value adding consumer goodwill with world class performance.

What makes this installation unique is FIFA 1 Star Recommendation with over 95 per cent Australian content.

The yarn was produced by Tapex Pty Ltd in Sydney and the product was manufactured by TEAM Sports in Seven Hills – both under the Australian made Campaign. In addition, the surface system was installed by SmartGrass in Victoria, so all three companies involved are Australian owned and run.

“It is pleasing to know that we finally have an Australian Made FIFA installation here in Australia,” said David Carpenter from Tapex. “We export over 80 fields of yarn every year to overseas markets.

“Caroline Springs now proves to the local market that it no longer needs to look overseas for the latest synthetic field technology, as Australia leads the world in synthetic turf manufacturing and design.”

John Curtis from TEAM Sports said the company has had 17 fields registered under the FIFA Quality Concept.

“After 10 years of installing these fields overseas, it is nice to bring our experience and technology back home to Australia,” he said.

Frank Faro from SmartGrass said CRC Caroline Springs is over the moon with their new soccer field.

“Every afternoon, the school authorities are chasing local teenagers off the ground, who are there trying to test out the new surface,” he said.

“It is another quality surface delivered on time and budget.

“With the explosion of interest in synthetic fields in the southern states of Australia for both soccer and now the AFL, the Australian industry is very excited about the future prospects and demand for these types of products over the next 12 months and are excited about what the future holds.”
