Status of 500 sports grounds available by SMS*

Having just implemented the BounceBack SMS service in their tenth council, the team from Blink Mobile Technologies are on a roll making sure councils all over the country have access to this innovative and time saving customer service.

BounceBack works as a virtual noticeboard that ratepayers can access anywhere, anytime via their mobile phones. It is a quick setup for any council and allows ratepayers to get instant answers to a wide range of questions without having to ring, wait online or listen through recorded messages.

Prime features appealing to council clients include the fact that it is quick to setup, taking around five days; it has a low annual fee with no ‘per sms’ costs; and zero legislative exposure for areas such as privacy and spam.

“The team from BounceBack have been great helping Bankstown Council establish our SMS information service for sports grounds,” said Bankstown’s Facilities Officer Mitchell Sammut.

“They worked to really tight deadlines, took on additional customisation for no extra charge and even came after hours to help us launch the service to our clubs and associations.”

Fairfield City Council launched the BounceBack Service in March 2009.

Sporting Facilities Coordinator Sandie Morthen said the initial setup was quickly and efficiently coordinated by the supplier and customer feedback was positive from the very beginning.

“No longer did customers have to sit on hold waiting to find out ground status,” he said.

“In the first three months, we have had over 1,600 customers access the service. This is way beyond our expectations.”

Wyong Council’s ‘text-an-oval’ service was launched two years ago to support the wet weather hotline. In that time, it has cemented its popularity with schools, sporting clubs, associations and a growing number of individual users, especially during the wetter winter months.

“Because of its convenience, BounceBack SMS is resulting in fewer people now using the wet weather hotline,” said Wyong’s Sports Liaison Officer Kelli Fletcher.
