Community Environment Grants Program

Community Environment Grants Program

Each year, Council provides grant funding to local community groups as part of the annual Community Environment Grants program.

The funding program is coordinated by Council to develop partnerships with community groups involved in natural resource management and environmental improvements on either public or private land.

Last year $27,300 was allocated to groups for a number of inspiring environmental projects.

There are a range of projects led by local Landcare and environment groups, from waging war on wheel cactus, to rabbit busting, to broadening biodiversity and creek restoration.

By taking into consideration matching funds, such as inkind labour and cocontribution from the groups, this equates to over $80,000 worth of improvements to the natural environment.

“These funds can make a huge difference to a volunteer based community group,” said Mayor Philip Schier.

“We see the importance of our role in supporting local groups as they work to improve the natural environment across the Shire.”
