Work is underway on a new $22 million community hub for residents and visitors to Maylands. The Maylands Multipurpose Centre is being constructed on the corner of Eighth Avenue and Guildford Road.
The design comprises two structures linked by an undercover reception area.
The two storey centre will be home to some great new facilities including an amphitheatre suitable for outdoor entertainment, multifunction sports hall, a new library, community meeting rooms, a café, plus community facilities and offices on the upper floor.
The facility will also house a child health clinic, parents and children facility, and a City of Bayswater one stop information shop for Council services that will be similar to the one located at the Centro Galleria Shopping Centre. It will also feature state of the art energy efficiency measures including timed tap ware, daylight harvesting, bipolar light switching, solar panels, heat pumps and dual glazing.
The work is being undertaken by Pindan, one of Perth’s premier construction companies and is scheduled for completion in 2011.
