The election of an LNP Government led by Campbell Newman is set to ensure a better relationship between George St and Queensland’s 73 local councils.
Local Government Association of Queensland President Paul Bell said he looked forward to working with premier-elect Campbell Newman and his new Government to implement its policy of empowering local communities to decide for themselves how they
should grow.
“I’m especially pleased there are so many MPs in the new Government who bring the invaluable experience of being local councillors to the task of guiding the state’s fortunes over the next three years,” he said.
“Local councils have a special relationship with this Government and we intend to work hard to ensure our communities regain their capacity to influence their own future.”
