Salisbury makes good business sense

The Marketing and Customer Relations division of the City of Salisbury in Western Australia has won a plethora of awards for its innovative
marketing strategies.

The City of Salisbury was awarded the 2012 Best Communications Award (over $5000 category) at the national conference of Government Communications Australia.

Government Communications Australia is a national organisation representing media, communications, marketing events and public relations professionals working in local government across Australia.

The award recognised the City of Salisbury Council’s ‘Living City’ marketing campaign and ‘Makes Good Business Sense’ strategy.

The ‘Living City’ marketing campaign is aligned with Council’s City Plan 2020 and aims to increase community pride in Salisbury; to attract business and government investment; to educate and influence attitudinal and behavioural changes in relation to sustainability; and to be consistent with and underpin our employer branding.

The campaign focuses on residents and non-residents of Salisbury, to positively influence their perceptions in order to create pride in the city, utilising television as its lead medium, supported by advertising on public transport and key signage. The campaign’s website and social media (such as Facebook and Twitter) have a consistent look and message.

Salisbury’s ‘Makes Good Business Sense’ marketing campaign also won the Australian Marketing Institute Marketing Communications B2B State Award and was a finalist in the Economic Development Australia Awards in the Economic Development Marketing Strategy category.

The campaign received a High Commendation (runner-up place) in the EDA Awards Marketing Strategy Category, whilst ‘Invest Northern Adelaide’, the City of Salisbury’s joint project with the Cities of Playford and Tea Tree Gully, was named as runner-up in the Digital Productivity Category.

Salisbury’s emphasis on high quality marketing strategies and campaigns has paid off, not only in terms of receiving national recognition, but also in terms of raising the profile of the City, encouraging investment and community pride.
