Recognising Council’s high achievers – This month from Queensland

The Logan: City of Choice Leadership Team were nominated as high achievers by Mayor Pam Parker. The team recently met to begin actioning projects that will create a better future for Logan City in Queensland.

The 11-person team, led by former Brisbane City Council Chief Executive Officer, Jude Munro, will implement the Draft Two-Year Action Plan. This plan was a key outcome of February’s Logan: City of Choice Summit and continues the momentum that has been achieved since then.

The Leadership Team will prioritise the projects found in the action plan to determine which would have the most impact for the city, and discuss how to involve the community as the action plan rolls out.

Councillor Parker said the highly qualified team was ready to roll-up their sleeves and work hard to achieve real change in the key areas of education, employment, housing, safety and social infrastructure.

“This is the turning point for Logan – the future of the city is being shaped right here and now.

“As a city we have said ‘enough is enough’. This is the point of change; this is the point where we, as a city, turn around and bring about the change that we need.

“Real change takes time but I have every confidence that in 10 years we will be able to look back and unequivocally say this moment was when change started for Logan City. It’s time for all levels of government to work together with the community to drive the change we need.”

Jude Munro said the issues being experienced in Logan were no different to those all areas of Australia were either experiencing now or would in the future.
“I want to make a difference to Logan City and I am confident through this Leadership Team we will be able to do just that.”

Ms Munro heads a team of 11 community representatives, government leaders and experts.

Councillor Parker said the calibre of applicants for the Leadership Team had resulted in a highly qualified and experienced outfit.

“The diverse range of expertise on the team will help ensure we can implement real change in the key areas of education, employment, housing, safety and
social infrastructure.”

Other members of the Leadership Team include representatives from Queensland Theatre Company, Access Community Services Limited, Griffith University, and the Australian Red Cross.
