Sebastopol just got a whole lot more colourful thanks to new bus shelter artwork installed along Albert Street in Ballarat, Victoria.
The new art panels, created by young people aged between 14 and 24 years, are part of a Lead On Ballarat project in partnership with the council.
Also featured in the project is one panel completed by well-known local street artist CAX.
The Take Back the Streets art project was designed to brighten up the shelters and reduce illegal tagging and graffiti.
The artworks range from streetscapes to cartoons and abstract patterns, each an original design by a budding young artist.
The project offered a great way for young people to develop their art skills and have the opportunity for their work to be on public display.
The project was celebrated in November as part of an exhibition at Wolveschildren Art Space, Ballarat.
The City of Ballarat will monitor its success with the concept being considered for future temporary public art projects throughout the city.
The Bus Shelter Art Project was funded through the City of Ballarat’s Community Impact Grant Program, BGT Youth Connections and the Ballarat Arts Foundation.
