More than 800 Local Government professionals from across Victoria attended the 2015 LGPro Annual Conference in February.
Attendees heard a range of high profile and national speakers discuss issues aligned to the conference theme ‘Great Local Government…are you up for it?’
International keynote speaker, Barry Quirk who is Chief Executive of the London Borough of Lewisham in the UK spoke about the need to reset Local Government, including resetting the expectations of service users and the wider public as to what councils can and should do.
Other speakers included David Buttifant, a leading sports professional who has worked with elite athletes at an Olympic level and in the Australian Football League (AFL) for more than 25 years; Dr Amantha Imber, an innovation psychologist; and best-selling author and Susan Biggs, Chief Executive Officer of Aldara Development which provides assistance to more than 30,000 people a year in Nepal and Uganda who are living in extreme poverty.
More than 650 people attended the Annual Conference Dinner where the winners of the 2015 LGPro Awards for Excellence were announced.
Almost 100 entries from across the sector were received in these prestigious awards, which acknowledge and celebrate the fantastic programs, projects and individual achievements of people working in Local Government.

Young achiever: Amanda Tingay, Greater Shepparton City Council
