RDA Sydney welcomes new leadership team

Regional Development Australia – Sydney (RDA Sydney) has announced the appointment of the its new Chair and Deputy Chair – Dr Robert Lang (Chair) and Dr Jim Taggart OAM (Deputy).

Dr Lang’s background includes the role of CEO for the Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority and Parramatta City Council.

Dr Lang said he firmly believes in the need for a long-term vision for Sydney with more aligned policy settings and that by working together with all levels of Government, significant changes can be made within the Sydney Region.

“Having developed a new vision for Parramatta as the Sydney’s 2nd CBD and initiated the Barangaroo project, I look forward to working with the RDA Sydney Committee to bring about the next phase of change and growth required to keep Sydney at the cutting edge of the global economy.

“We look forward to advancing significant growth and investment within Sydney’s Regions.”

Newly appointed Deputy Dr Taggart also brings with him a wealth of experience as a business and education leader, academic, author, radio broadcaster, teacher and motivational speaker and couldn’t agree more.

“I too believe that there has never been a better time to bring about change.

“With the right team in place, strategy and plan, real change can happen.”

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Warren Truss said the three-year appointments will provide leadership to RDA committees to drive economic growth and make the most of the potential capability of their region.

“RDA committees play a key role in growing stronger regions across the nation and ensure all three tiers of government work together.”

The Chair and Deputy Chair will now move to appoint a team of active local community leaders to support them.
