Walk a day in Council’s shoes

Tweed Shire Council is inviting the community to spend a day working alongside a council employee during Local Government Week.

Council’s Director Corporate Services Liz Collyer said community members who have already put their hands up to be assigned a Council buddy for the A Day in Our Shoes event.

“The day will begin at 8.30am with a special welcome and induction breakfast, then participants and their Council buddies will embark on their ‘day in our shoes’ program until 4pm.

“Participants are able to register for a range of roles including General Manager, Environmental Scientist, Supervisor Construction, Director Corporate Services, Team Leader Development Assessment, Manager Information Technology, Unit Coordinator Development Engineering and Customer Service Officer.

“This is a great opportunity for students or members of the community thinking of a career in local government or any of these areas, or even for anyone who is simply interested in how their local Council works.”

Other roles being offered are Director Community and Natural Resources, Team Leader Environmental Health, Team Leader Building Services and Communications Officer.

A Day in Our Shoes will be held on Wednesday August 5.

Local Government Week is an initiative of Local Government New South Wales and this year will be held August 3-9.
