Creating Solar Towns

Mount Alexander Shire Council has welcomed the news that local community organisations in the area can apply for grants of up to $20,000 to install solar photovoltaic or hot water systems as part of the Australian Government’s Solar Towns Programme.

Jason Taylor, Director Sustainable Development at Mount Alexander Shire Council said he encourages all eligible groups to apply.”

“Mount Alexander is one of only four regions in the country to be eligible for this round of funding, so it’s a fantastic opportunity for community groups to go solar for free.”

“I encourage all community groups to take a look at the eligibility requirements and make an application to make the most of this generous opportunity.”

The Solar Towns Programme was established as part of the Australian Government’s commitment to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Council and school-owned buildings are ineligible for this funding through the initiative.
