Free OHS information session

Maroondah City Council in Victoria is hosting a free information session on Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) in the local government sector.

Achieving sustained positive OHS outcomes and legislative compliance are critically important issues for employers within the Local Government sector.

This is particularly the case in relation to the safety of plant, equipment and associated systems of work.

With these objectives in mind and in order to provide a positive contribution to the Local Government sector Maroondah City Council is hosting a free information session for the Local Government sector on Occupational Health and Safety that will address a number of the issues/challenges currently being faced by the
sector including:

  • Plant safety and machine guarding
  • Workplace consultation in relation to OHS
  • Obligations under current OHS legislation, applicable to employers, employees, designers, manufacturers, suppliers and installers.

An experienced OHS consultancy firm will present this information, while a workshop component will provide an opportunity to network and gain further knowledge into how to achieve the best outcome for the employee and the workplace.

Maroondah will also share and reflect upon its recent experience in dealing with these issues, particularly as it relates to ensuring that potential risks associated with older/existing items of plant and equipment are appropriately assessed and controlled.

Date: Wednesday 10 May Time: 9am to 1.30pm
Lunch: a complimentary buffet Lunch will be provided
Venue: Karralyka, Braeside Avenue Ringwood Vic 3134
