Community members in the City of Greater Geraldton in Western Australia have created 20 art installations, which are on show around the region for this year’s ArtDrive.
Hundreds of day-trippers from around the region and state are expected to take part in the self-drive art tour which is themed ‘Old is New Again’.
City of Greater Geraldton Mayor Shane Van Styn said participating community members had gone above and beyond with their entries this year.
“It’s great to see everyone getting behind this inclusive community arts initiative,” he said.
“Those planning to take the tour should pack a picnic or pick a pub or café along the way to stop for a bite to eat, download the new app and prepare to be amazed because this year’s ArtDrive showcases our immensely creative community.
“The judges and I have had a tough time choosing winners and look forward to announcing them to the public shortly.”
Those looking to take the ArtDrive tour will start in Geraldton and travel through Greenough, Walkaway, Mullewa, Tenindewa, Moonyoonooka and back to Geraldton.
ArtDrive is set during the peak wildflower season, making for a great contrast between art and vibrant fields of flowers.
All 20 installations have been created by community members, school groups or artists.
ArtDrive also has an official app that includes a map, information about each installation as well as details about cafes and restaurants on route so you can grab a bite to eat.
The app can be downloaded from iTunes and the app store.
For those unable to download the app, a booklet is also available and can be collected from the Geraldton Visitor Centre, Civic Centre, Geraldton Regional Library and Queens Park Theatre.
ArtDrive officially launched on Sunday 30 July and will end on Monday 30 October.
