Wright Book Box opens the next chapter

Canberra’s newest Book Box has been officially opened in Wright, creating an inviting space for people from the southern reaches of the Molonglo Valley to meet new people and to share their favourite books.

A Book Box is a free book swap system where members of the community leave one book in a safe space in exchange for another.

Wright’s Book Box was developed and physically built by two local residents, who have worked with the ACT Government’s Mingle program to promote a sense of community and ownership within the Molonglo Valley.

As long as you have a book to swap, this project is open to the entire Wright community free of charge. It is a fantastic example of the sort of community building outcomes Mingle continues to achieve in Canberra’s newest suburbs.

The Wright Book Box is a community-led project which has been supported by the ACT Government, with a sister system also in operation in neighbouring Coombs.

The Suburban Land Agency’s Mingle program aims to build vibrant communities through a range of activities such as new resident programs, events, community working groups and more.
