Girls win grants for upgrades

Gannawarra Shire Council has been successful in receiving three grants from Sport and Recreation Victoria’s 2018/2019 Community Sports Infrastructure Fund.

Mayor Brian Gibson said Kerang’s Riverside Park Sports Reserve facilities and Macorna Reserve Facilities each received $100,000.

“The funding was secured to upgrade Kerang and Macorna’s buildings to make them more female friendly due to the increase of women taking part in umpiring and football.

“I am also pleased to announce that Cohuna and Leitchville Cricket clubs received $85,000 to upgrade their cricket nets.

“Council is matching the funding for the Kerang and Macorna projects and will be supporting part of the funding towards the Cricket Facilities funding at Cohuna and Leitchville.

“The three projects costing a total of $683,797 are anticipated to begin construction in mid-2018 and Council will be working closely with the clubs involved to ensure successful outcomes.”
