Brimbank City Council, Victoria, has introduced a new mobile and outreach Maternal and Child Health (MCH) service.
A newly converted bus will make the service more accessible to key parts of the community.
Council has invested $28,000 to convert the mobile bus – which includes $20,000 in funding that has been provided by local MP, Tim Watts, through the Federal Government’s Stronger Community Program.
Mayor of Brimbank, Councillor Margaret Giudice said that it was important for Council to expand child and family health services for its growing community.
“We want to make sure our babies and young children get a great start in life, as well as support new parents.
“We are proud of how the outreach program connects and supports families with young children by creating a safe and welcoming environment for parents and their families in the community.
“Brimbank Council is committed to delivering programs that improve the health and well-being of families in our culturally and linguistically diverse community”.
The MCH mobile service will be accessible to families at various locations including parks, ovals, community centres, shopping centres as well as at children and family events.
