Melton City Council, Victoria, will be taking the library straight to the doorstop of its newest residents.
Council, in partnership with Lendlease Communities, is setting up the Atherstone Library Access Point to help locals make the most of its services remotely.
The Access Point has been funded by Lendlease to provide library services to the Atherstone community, and will be run by Melton City Libraries.
Located at the Bridge Road Children’s and Community Centre, the Atherstone Library Access Point will offer a self-service digital screen and library locker, where residents can access the library online, and collect library items placed on hold without needing to travel to Melton or Caroline Springs branches.
Books, magazines, audiobooks and DVDs will all be available to be selected, collected, borrowed and returned at the Access Point.
City of Melton Mayor, Bob Turner, said the process would be user-friendly, and make borrowing books easier for everyone living in, or near, the Atherstone housing estate.
“Simply join the library, order your items online and collect; it’s easy.
“It’s wonderful to have Lendlease working with us on this project to help locals easily make use of the extensive range of resources the libraries offer.”
