Hincheinbrook Shire Council, Queensland, is urging residents to take part in a competition which will put the district squarely on the tourist map.

Local attraction, Wallaman Falls has been nominated for the 7 Wonders of Australia voting campaign being carried out by Experience Oz.

After months of nominations, 50 attractions, including Wallaman Falls, have been shortlisted and are now open to the public for voting to determine the final seven epic destinations.

The main goal for the 7 Wonders of Australia campaign is to reinforce Australia’s majestic sites as some of the best on the planet, while encouraging domestic travellers to explore the best of their own backyard.

Voters will be in the running to win one of seven epic trips to the final list of seven wonders in person, but will increase Hinchinbrook’s presence both nationally and internationally, contributing to the Region’s tourism industry, creating future employment and business opportunities.

Mayor, Ramon Jayo, said, “This is a great opportunity for us to put Wallaman Falls and Hinchinbrook on the map. I urge all members of the community to vote #1 for Wallaman Falls.”

Experience Oz’s Marketing Manager recently visited Wallaman Falls and met with Council to reinforce how highly regarded Wallaman Falls is within Australian Tourism.
