Burdekin Shire, Queensland, has an impressive Art Trail which has expanded yet again, with a colourful mural completed last month.
Townsville-based artist John Bradshaw spent just over one week producing the 90 square metre mural across the front and side facade of the Home Hill Backpackers building.
The artwork shows a smiling crowd of faces and is inspired by the Burdekin’s many festivals and events.
This is Bradshaw’s fourth mural in the Burdekin. The talented artist was engaged by Council late last year to create the Sweet Days, Hot Nights and Home Grown murals in Eighth Avenue, as well as the Comfort Stop’s Burdekin Snow mural back in 2017.
Mayor, Lyn McLaughlin, said the newest addition would be a welcome sight for visitors to the region.
“Watson Green’s has been at the very heart of the Home Hill Harvest Festival for many years, so it’s very fitting that this artwork will overlook that area.
“This mural will not only be a bright addition for those staying at the Home Hill Backpackers accommodation – it will also be a point of interest for guests of the Burdekin Memorial Hall and for travelling motorists, drawing them off the Bruce Highway and into the town’s central business district, which will ultimately benefit local business.”
