Businesses in Cook Shire, Queensland, are being encouraged to take advantage of a free resource efficiency assessment as part of the Council-supported Clean Growth Choices for Communities in Transition program.
Council is working closely with James Cook University, the Queensland Government and other collaborators on the Clean Growth Choices program, which aims to build capacity and strengthen leadership and resilience.
Community, Economy and Innovation Director, Lawrence Booth, said, “Clean Growth Choices is about helping regional and rural communities successfully navigate towards more resilient futures in the face of various and disruptive global and local pressures.
“The scope and impact of the program in each region really depends on how creatively our communities use the process and assistance provided by the Cleaner Growth Choices team, and how they leverage resources and link the program to existing initiatives.”
Expressions of interest are being sought from local organisations to undergo a free resource efficiency assessment, which includes a review of energy, water and waste efficiencies and provides a brief report on opportunities for cost reduction. The assessments are undertaken in partnership with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Queensland ecoBiz program.
