New trainees and apprentice welcomed

Hinchinbrook Council’s newest recruits apprentice Sean Milne and Trainees Ashleigh Espe, Giorgia Reinaudo, and Kristie Pelleri, pictured with CEO, Alan Rayment and Mayor, Ramon Jayo, are an investment in the Shire’s future.

Three new trainees and one new apprentice have begun work at Hinchinbrook Shire Council, Queensland.

The new intake of trainees and apprentices will be working across the areas of Records and Customer Service, Finance, Planning and

Development, and Parks and Gardens.

Mayor, Ramon Jayo, said the four new staff would be a valuable addition to the Council work force.

“It is a very exciting time for these four young people as they begin their next chapter working and learning the ropes at Council.

“Trainees and apprentices are a key part of Council’s succession plan and provide members of the community with the opportunity to learn and grow their skills in a Local Government environment.”

The four new staff will add to the 18 trainees and 5 apprentices employed by Council since 2016.

Chief Executive Officer, Alan Rayment, said, “Participating in a traineeship or apprenticeship program gives participants valuable experience which they can apply to a wide range of roles within the community when they finish their training here at Council.”

Of the 11 trainees employed in Council’s first intake in 2016, nine have gone onto full time employment in their respective fields and one has commenced a higher education program.

“I welcome the new trainees and apprentice to Council and wish well those who have completed training at Council and have now moved onto future endeavours.”
