Preschool aged children in Mitchell Shire, Victoria, have received $192,779 in State funding to help prepare them for the transition to school.
School Readiness funding is a new, permanent part of Victorian kindergarten’s funding plan and will improve long term educational goals for children throughout the municipality.
School Readiness Funding has been developed to support students in three key areas: communication and language development; social and emotional wellbeing; and access and inclusion.
Kindergarten services in 32 local government areas will receive a share in the Victorian Government’s $160 million investment in early childhood learning in 2020, benefiting more than 28,000 children.
It will be available for use in all Government funded kindergarten settings, including long day care, and for both three and four
year old children.
School Readiness funding will be rolled out through Victoria over the next three years.
Councillor Bill Chisholm, welcomed the announcement, saying Council and the Victorian Government were committed to ensuring everyone had access to high quality education. “Early learning is crucial for children across Australia and improving services is
important to us.”
