Enviro Events program

The Rural City of Wangaratta, Victoria, and community groups will join together for 17 environmental events as this year’s Enviro Events program kicks off with the aim of increasing opportunities to learn about and contribute to the sustainability of the environment.

A few of the events on offer include the March into Sustainability events at Wangaratta Library, a youth focused workshop through Intrepid Landcare, the ever-popular Spotlight Walk and Talk in May, and National Tree Day in August.

Council’s Sustainability Officer, Evelina Dudzinski said Enviro Events were growing in popularity as more people wanted to find ways to help the environment.

“Our community is passionate about our natural surrounds and people want
to make a difference.

“Our Enviro Events offers practical options, like planting a tree or picking up rubbish, as well as educational events like the outdoor screening of the movie 2040, or Boomerang Bags workshops.”

Mayor Dean Rees said March into Sustainability at the library provided a number of opportunities for the community to get involved.

“March into Sustainability 2020, aims to highlight sustainability in a range of areas.

“We have six events scheduled during March and that’s just events the library is hosting!

“We have boomerang bag workshops where you can make your own and create more for a good cause, a documentary Living the Change that explores sustainable solutions and Patterns for Little Poppets, a children’s activity focusing on sustainability and environment with Bianca from Beingreen Permaculture.

“As a Council we are striving to become more sustainable, so these events help us support our community to learn and get involved.”
