As the only newspaper being distributed exclusively to all of you – the local councils and shires throughout Australia – Local Government FOCUS has been trying to find ways to continue through this unbelievable time.

We are definitely committed to continuing to bring you Local Government information during the Covid-19 crisis.

As you all probably know, we are an independently owned small business, only able to publish our newspaper because of the advertising support we receive from our many clients. With all conferences, expos and events planned for the next several months either postponed or cancelled, it will be necessary to reduce the size of the paper to keep going; but while we continue to receive some support we can continue to publish LG FOCUS.

We are still receiving many articles from all of you allowing us to keep new and fresh ideas in the paper for you all to read. Please keep those coming. Whilst many of you are working from home and in isolation we want to continue bringing you news and ideas as long as possible, helping to keep you informed and keeping you in touch with counterparts in other parts of the country.

Local Government FOCUS also has a web site lgfocus.com.au that will keep fresh ideas happening through this time.

We were greatly saddened and disappointed to hear that a number of newspapers have closed their print publications, especially those in small communities where their paper is the only local news option available.

Once this is over I hope the companies that own these papers will start to publish them again not only leave them on the web where they have been seen to be much less viable in the long term. We know only too well internet access is not always reliable in many
small communities.

Like many other businesses, we are bracing for the economic challenges Covid-19 has and will force on us. We believe it is a temporary situation which we can ride out if we batten down the hatches and tighten our belt. Like many we wonder what kind of world will emerge on the other side.

Our thoughts are with those who are doing it tougher than us, we hope everyone of you stay safe and stay positive, and we look forward seeing the sun come up on a corona virus free world as quickly as possible.

By the way, if you would like to run an advertisement with us we won’t say no.
