Federation Council, New South Wales, has announced work is progressing well on a new aquatic centre at the Ball Park Precinct, Corowa, scheduled to open to the public in March 2021.
Mayor, Pat Bourke, said, “This is a very exciting project that will deliver a new, modern aquatic centre for our Council’s residents and visitors.
“The community has told us what they want to see as part of this new facility, and now we’re working towards achieving a contemporary aquatic centre that caters to a variety of needs, and will be enjoyed for many years to come.”
When completed, the centre will include a 50m pool, a 25m indoor pool facility with cafe and a splash park.
The $750,000 splash park was included as part of the complex after additional funding was announced by the State Government in October last year.
Council has engaged in extensive community consultation, assisted throughout by the Swimming Pool Advisory Committee consisting of councillors, pool users, youth council members and swimming club representatives.
The project is expected to cost up to $10.3 million and will be funded by Council, alongside monumental contributions from the New South Wales State Government.
Mayor Bourke said it was great to see work well underway on what will be a modern aquatic centre in the heart of the Federation Council region.
“This aquatic centre will be an asset not just for the community today, but one that will meet our communities’ needs for the next 50 years.
“The support Council and our community has received from the NSW State Government in respect to this project is outstanding, and this project is a fine example of the success that can come from Local Government and State Government working together for the benefit
of our communities.”
