Flexibility and innovation in design for effective erosion control*

In construction projects, particularly water drainage, public works and community infrastructure, it is expected that controls are used to manage the impact of erosion.

Australian Concrete Mats (ACM) offers the next generation of stabilisation, sediment and erosion control for water drainage channels, swale drains, and slope stabilisation.

Regardless of the project size, implementing proper erosion and sediment controls is key to protection of our waterways and concrete erosion mats provide fast and low-cost solutions combined with long lasting protection.

ACM provide two types of erosion mats: a flexible concrete erosion mat and an articulated concrete cable block mat.

ACM’s concrete mats and blocks feature a flexible matrix of concrete shapes with uniform size, shape, and weight.

Both products offer different capabilities for stabilisation, protection, filtration, and erosion control.

The all-in-one concrete erosion mat offers a stable barrier that helps reduce the water flow velocity, allowing filtration of silt particles, as well as providing erosion protection.

Being flexible, it can also be cut and laid around existing structures such as culverts, pipe outlets, and trees.

ACM flexible concrete erosion mats were the first choice for Wingecarribee Shire Council, New South Wales, for upgrade works on the wide drains alongside Church Road Playing Fields in Moss Vale.

The water and drainage channels alongside the playing fields were lined with ACM’s mats to help stabilise the slopes, slow down the water flow along the drains, and control erosion by minimising scouring and filter runoff.

For the Moss Vale project, mats were supplied in rolls that are easy and quick to install.

Mats are 2.4m wide and 15m long, including the biodegradable Nutrition mat underlay.

ACM’s innovative concrete erosion mats are easy to handle, quick to install and provide advanced stabilisation and erosion control for long lasting permeability and protection.

They are easy to maintain and safe for public access.
