Clubs gifted one-stop-shop for support

Clubs in the Mackay Regional Council area now have a one-stop-shop for information, guidance and support.

Known as Clubs Connect, Council launched the exciting new online resource last month and Mayor, Greg Williamson is tipping it to be a big hit with club committees.

“Clubs Connect has some key features that will make it a vital tool for clubs.

“Firstly, it provides access to the club locker room feature – this feature provides a secure, club-specific digital vault for all the club’s records and documents.

“It can only be accessed by Council’s Sports and Recreation team and executive committee members of the clubs, so it really streamlines things when there is a ‘changing of the guard’ or if you have a computer crash.

“It also provides access to the Modern Club Management Kit – an exceptional resource that walks you through every facet of managing a club and holding a committee role.

“For example, if you’ve never held the treasurer role before, you’ll find an easy-to-understand guide as well as all the templates and documentation you’ll need to act in that role.”

MAD Mountain Bike Club’s Peter Lister said he really liked the club noticeboard feature.

“When clubs are holding a big event, for example, rather than trying to hire marquees, you can put up a notice to see if another club is happy to share. They can then share their branding at your event, and you can borrow the equipment you need – happy days.”

Mayor Williamson said Council created Clubs Connect to make it easier for those who volunteer their time with sporting clubs to run and grow their clubs in a simpler and easier fashion.

“It’s about empowering volunteers and giving them all the resources they need to run their club.”
