Robe engaging in aging

The District Council of Robe proudly presented the community’s first Engaging in Ageing Expo, an initiative of Council, on Wednesday 1 October 2025 at the Robe Institute from 11am to 3pm.

Delivered in partnership with SA Health’s Week of Ageing Well, the Expo celebratee positive ageing and showcased the wide range of services, supports and opportunities available to help older members of our community live healthy, active and connected lives.

The Expo will featured more than 25 exhibitors, including health and wellbeing providers, lifestyle and financial services, community transport, legal support and local volunteer organisations. Exhibitors included the Limestone Coast Local Health Network, Australian Red Cross, Carers SA, Hear More Audiology, FocusOne Health, Progressional Naturopathy, Robe Cares, Women’s Legal Service SA and many more.

Local clubs such as the Robe Lions Club, Probus, Bowls Club, Golf Club, Knitting Group, Friends of the Robe Library and the Robe Seniors Community Committee were also on-hand to showcase opportunities to connect and get involved in community life.

Highlights of the day included the new Lifeline SE Connect Van, offering a safe space for conversation over a free coffee. There was also a free community lunch of soup and a sausage sizzle provided to all attendees.

Mayor Ruffell said the event was an opportunity to bring people together to learn, connect and celebrate the many ways older residents contribute to community life.

“Positive ageing is about more than services – it’s about staying active, engaged and connected. This Expo is a chance to showcase what’s available locally and create a welcoming space for people to explore, share and connect,” Mayor Ruffell said.

The Engaging in Ageing Expo is a District Council of Robe initiative, was free to attend and open to everyone.
