Tributes from communities across NSW will be laid at the Bondi Memorial on Thursday as local Mayors gather to pay their respects to the victims of Sunday evening’s terrorist attack.
Waverley Mayor Will Nemesh has issued the invitation to all Mayors across NSW to attend on behalf of their councils, acknowledging that the grief and sadness of Sunday’s events extends across all communities.
“The support of my fellow Mayors means a great deal to the entire Waverley community” said Mayor Nemesh.
“Visible demonstrations of solidarity like this are so important for our Jewish community to know that they are supported and they are loved.”
President of Local Government NSW, Mayor Darcy Byrne says the gathering will demonstrate local government’s solidarity with the Waverley community and with the Jewish community in general.
“As our communities continue to process the horrific atrocity of Sunday evening, we’re grateful to Waverley council for providing this opportunity for us to pay respect to the victims and their families on behalf of our communities” said Mayor Byrne.
“By undertaking this act of respect collectively, we can provide a powerful demonstration of solidarity and support at a time when all communities across NSW are united in grief”
