Plenty to see and

Some of the world’s finest mining town architecture, the famous statue of Paddy Hannan, the enormous expanse of the Golden Mile Super Pit and journey on a heritage train are just a small selection of what Kalgoorlie-Boulder has on offer.

WA Museum Kalgoorlie-Boulder

One of the best museums in regional Australia, the museum features the social and cultural history of the Goldfields region. Exhibits include spectacular gold nugget and jewellery displays, gold vault, traditional miners’ cottages and the 100 year old British Arms pub. Take the lift to the top of the headframe for 360 degree views of the City.

Boulder Heritage Precinct

Wander through the beautifully preserved Boulder Town Hall, built in 1908. View the priceless Phillip Goatcher curtain, the last surviving working example of the artist’s lavish drop curtains that graced theatres from Paris through to New York in the early 1900s. Walk down Burt Street and follow the heritage plaques set into the pavement between Hamilton and Brookman Streets, which honour many early pioneers.

Goldfields War Museum

Visit the Goldfields War Museum where there is a collection of vehicles, radio equipment, uniforms, artillery, photographs, documents and memorabilia. This is truly a community museum, as most of the items have been donated by the people of Kalgoorlie-Boulder who served in the Boer War, World War I, World War II and Vietnam.

Golden Mile Super Pit Lookout and Loopline Tourist Railway

Stand at the Super Pit Lookout and be amazed at the mining activity in one of the world’s largest open cut gold mines. Enjoy a short journey on the historic Loopline Tourist Railway; in the heady gold rush days the busiest railway in Western Australia.

Heritage hotels

Learn about the famous race riots and gold stealing detectives’ murders, relax and enjoy a cup of tea at the Historic Cornwall Hotel. Amaze at historic photographs of the City. Relax on the balcony overlooking one of the City’s main streets at The Australia Hotel. These are just two of Kalgoorlie-Boulder’s historic hotels.

Karlkurla Bushland Park

At the Karlkurla Bushland Park, a 200 hectare site on the outskirts of the City, residents and tourists can picnic, complete the interpretive cycle/walk trails and observe a regeneration project in operation.

The Miners Hall of Fame

In October 2001, the Australian Prospectors and Miners Hall of Fame opened its doors to the public. It now houses the original copper statue of Paddy Hannan, which was cast in 1929.

Hannans North Tourist Mine

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to go underground? At Hannans North Historic Mining Reserve you can do just that! Hannans North provides a comprehensive look at the history of mining. Underground tours, gold pouring demonstrations, displays and exhibits, a wide range of gold jewellery and souvenirs are just to mention a few of the attractions.
