Online legal searching at your finger tips

In the rapid transition to online services, organisations having the greatest success are those offering this faster, more convenient means to do business or source information alongside, or as an additional service to, traditional methods. Coercing people into using new systems will not win the public relations battle which many of our large financial institutions are now realising.

The introduction of online services by Legalco Business Information, one of Australia’s best known and most reliable provider of public, legal, business and financial information, gives clients instant access to a range of databases. Legalco.com.au offers 24 hour access to various databases including the Australian Securities Investments Commission; Land Titles in New South Wales, Victoria and Queensland; and Insolvency Trustee Services Australia.

Digitisation of information is moving rapidly, but there are still some areas not covered. To cater for these, and as part of its ongoing full customer support services during business hours, Legalco’s manual searching runs parallel to online information. Inspite of its rapid growth of public and private sector clients, and commensurate increase in online access, Legalco now employs more full time title searchers than it did two years ago.

Local Government uses Legalco services for town planning, property management, land ownership and rating matters, as well as debt collection. Manager Administration at Baw Baw Shire, Peter Finlayson, said that Legalco services are excellent.

“The system is easy to use and the internet site very user friendly,” he said. “In running a title search, it now takes two minutes instead of a few days. Moreover, it is cheaper than when we were dealing with the Titles Office.”

Fiona McKenna, Revenue Officer at the Shire of Blaney, uses Legalco to source land titles and run company searches.

“It is convenient and easy,” she said. “If you need to order a plan, within half an hour you have it.”

Legalco offers very competitive rates and has no joining fees or subscriptions. For further information contact Barbara Moore, Legalco Director Sales & Marketing, on (02) 9283 5111 or visit www.legalco.com.au.
