IPWEAQ Conference 2003

The IPWEAQ’s 2003 State Conference will be staged in Mackay from Sunday 5 to Wednesday 8 October, with the Works Supervisors Sessions on Thursday 9 and Friday 10 October. ‘Working Together – Regions, Partnership, Communities, Alliances’ is the theme for this year’s Conference.

“This highlights the advantage of working together with all stakeholders for the success of a project, typified by the cooperative approach by the eight member Councils of WHAM ROC that are organising this Conference,” said John Hawkes, IPWEAQ President.

Keynote speakers include Jim Soorley, former Lord Mayor of Brisbane, and Dwayne Kalynchuk, President American Public Works Association. The program also includes papers on Engaging the Community, Water Management, Roads, Transport and Infrastructure, Project Delivery and Partnerships, Projects, Risk Management, Environmental, Management and Documentation.

The Works Supervisors sessions include papers on Road Maintenance, Communities and Service Delivery, Processes, Solving and Improving, Considering the Environment, and Moving Forward.

“The Conference is, of course, not all work – the social side is well catered for with a mix of good food and wine, music, entertainment and of course – great company!” John Hawkes said. “We’re dining in the Entertainment Centre, the Conservatorium and at the harbour – what great variety!”
