The WA Local Government Association has launched a new recruitment and selection service, Local Government Workplace Solutions, as part of the 2003 Local Government Week Convention. The new service will provide recruitment and selection services, training and development, advocacy and representation, CEO and Executive reviews, and events management functions to Local Governments across the State.
Workplace Solutions was established in response to extensive feedback from Association members, and their need for specialised recruitment and workplace relations support. WA Local Government Association Chief Executive Officer, Ricky Burges, said the service had been designed to manage the very specific and individual needs of Local Governments, particularly in recruiting senior managers and Chief Executive Officers to Local Governments.
“The team at Workplace Solutions will work exclusively with Local Governments in designing process and assisting in the recruitment and selection of the best possible employees for the Local Government sector,” she said.“This service will become particularly important where it may be considered inappropriate for elected members to use the services of Council employees to assist with the recruitment and selection of a new Chief Executive Officer.
“It will also be invaluable where Local Governments do not have the resources or the time available to undertake these processes in house,” Ricky Burges said.
Workplace Solutions will provide Local Governments with an obligation free quote, and a confidential discussion on their recruitment needs. Fees will be determined by the type and extent of the services required, however, the aim of Workplace Solutions, as part of the WA Local Government Association, is to provide cost effective services to all members.
