Staff members from Bundaberg Regional Council’s Roads and Drainage team have been given the opportunity to upskill their qualifications.
Six staff members from the team have undertaken a Certificate III in Civil Construction.
Council secured funding for this training and will allow the staff the opportunity to meet with the trainer during work time.
Council said the staff members already have plenty of on-the-job know-thow and now, in their own time and under their own steam, have been working to get a recognised qualification.
The commitment to take on study in the construction industry – which has long days and involves being out in the weather in all sorts of conditions – is something their work mates and leader are proud of.
It can take between six months and two years to get the Certificate III in Civil Construction and these workers want to achieve it within 12 months so they keep up their focus and energy.
The resulting qualifications will help within a competitive environment, and will be valued by the civil construction industry and local government.
