Getting involved on Australia Day*

Bring your community together this Australia Day with the Australian Citizenship Affirmation.

Across the country there are thousands of organised events held each Australia Day, from fun runs first thing in the morning to fireworks in the evening, each community celebrates the day in their own unique way. Citizenship ceremonies are an integral part of Australia Day, with over 16,000 people choosing to become an Australian citizen on 26 January each year.

Get the crowd involved by including the Australian Citizenship Affirmation in your Australia Day citizenship ceremony. The Affirmation is a short declaration based on the Australian citizenship pledge that gives all event attendees an opportunity to affirm, or perhaps reaffirm, their loyalty to Australia, along with our newest citizens. The Affirmation is a great addition to your official Australia Day event as it provides an opportunity for the whole community to celebrate our shared values and commitment to Australia. What better way to celebrate what’s great about Australia and being Australian?

To make it easy for you, we have developed affirmation cards that can be placed on seats or handed to guests as they arrive at your event.
