TasTAFE, in partnership with West Coast Council and Skills Tasmania, Study Hub West Coast and the West Coast Council Education and Training Advisory Committee, is offering residents the opportunity to study locally for a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment qualification as part of the new West Coast Capacity Training Project (WCCTP).
The project’s aim is to build a pool of qualified trainers on the West Coast to locally service the Training and Assessment needs of the community.
By utilising the skills of the regional workforce, Registered Training Organisations will be able to recruit local trainers to respond to training requests for upskilling the workforce or meeting future skilling needs.
Participants who hold a relevant qualification and have current industry knowledge and experience in their proposed field, will learn how to deliver training in their area of expertise such as tourism and hospitality, manufacturing, mining and construction throughout the West Coast.
Learning support will include an initial support session, regular face to face workshops held in community locations across the West Coast, on-line resources, supported study sessions and workplace learning.
On completion of the course participants will continue to receive support and mentoring as they further develop their skills as a qualified trainer and assessor.
West Coast Council’s Education and Training Advisory Committee will support participants to find opportunities with TasTAFE and other Registered Training Organisations to deliver training (in their industry) on the West Coast.
Up to twelve places have been funded through Skills Tasmania’s Workforce Development Grants Program for the WCCTP, which will be delivered from April to November 2020.
