Hybrid fleet hits the road

Rural City of Wangaratta, Victoria, has taken delivery of 11 hybrid cars, as the transformation of its fleet gets underway.

Nine Toyota Rav 4s and two Camrys hit the road early this month.

Council’s Manager Field Services, Jamie Reid said the change would save money and help the environment.

“Late last year Council made the decision to switch its fleet to lease cars.

“We made this change because it will be more economical for ratepayers.”

The 11 hybrid passenger vehicles were delivered by Wangaratta Toyota, with the leasing arranged through Leaseplan.

In total some 68 vehicles will be leased, including 28 Ford Ranger utes to be delivered in coming months.
