The Australia Day Council of New South Wales has invited Dubbo residents to nominate inspirational Australians from their community for the 2016 Australian of the Year Awards.
Mayor of Dubbo, Councillor Mathew Dickerson said the awards are a great way to recognise Australians doing great things in the community locally, nationally and globally.
“Dubbo City Council encourages all residents of Dubbo to recognise someone worthy of your attention for one of these awards.
“Dubbo is full of inspirational people who contribute daily to our community and this is perfect chance to give them the recognition they deserve.
“Think about past winners of Australia Day Awards here in Dubbo, these people would be perfect candidates for these awards.”
The Awards are currently open for nominations in the categories of Australian of the Year, Senior Australian of the Year, Young Australian of the Year and Australia’s Local Hero.
Finalists from each State and Territory are selected in each of the four categories.
The 32 State and Territory recipients will then become National Finalists for the Australia of the Year Awards that will be announced in January 2016.
Nominations can be made online at www.australianoftheyear.gov.au, and will close on Monday August 3 2015.
